Outdoor spaces suitable for events

Moreland has a range of outdoor spaces suitable for picnics, barbecues, festivals and events. Some of the spaces suitable for events are listed below.

To host an event at an outdoor space in Moreland, you will need to apply for an event permit. You can find out more about event permits on our Planning an event page.

  • Location: Jukes Road, Fawkner

    This outdoor space:

    • holds 2000 people
    • is available to use between 6am and 9pm
    • is suitable for small events

    CB Smith Reserve is centrally located in front of the Fawkner Leisure Centre, Library, Maternal and Child Health Centre and Fawkner Community House. There is a lot of passing traffic on foot and in cars.

    There is ample parking available and the Merri Creek bike trail runs close to CB Smith Reserve.

  • Location: Lake Grove, Coburg North (off Murray Road)

    This outdoor space:

    • holds up to 5000 people
    • is available to use between 6am and 11pm
    • is suitable for barbecues, picnics, weddings, parties and community festivals.

    One of Moreland’s most popular event sites, Coburg Lake (on the Murray Road side) is great for:

    • weddings
    • wedding photos
    • birthday parties
    • holiday parties
    • community festivals
    • events with a stage program
    • events requiring vehicle access

    Coburg Lake (on the Murray Road Side) has a large area surrounded by willows overlooking the lake, a stage area with three-phase power access, barbecue area and a children’s playground.

    The site has:

    • public toilets
    • water fountains
    • barbecues
    • picnic tables
    • power access

    Coburg Lake Reserve is close to public transport and has car parking available. The Merri Creek bike trail goes directly to the reserve.

  • Location: 187-195 Gaffney Street, Coburg

    This outdoor space:

    • holds up to 2000 people
    • is available to use between 6am and 11pm
    • is suitable for family events, parties and small festivals.

    The recently revamped Harmony Park includes:

    • a large flat open space
    • water fountains
    • public toilets
    • children’s playground
    • rotunda with barbecues and picnic tables
    • a basketball hoop
    • a skate park

    Free, wireless internet access is available for public use at Harmony Park.

    Harmony Park is suitable for family events, Christmas parties, and events with children. A small scale festival could be run at this site if the event organiser is willing to bring power to the site.

    Harmony Park is close to public transport and car parking is also available.

    There is no onsite power access.

  • Location: 40 Harrison Street, Brunswick East

    This outdoor space:

    • holds up to 500 people
    • is available to use between 6am and 11pm
    • is ideal for children's parties, family get-togethers and small festivals.

    At Jones Park there is:

    • a basketball hoop
    • a public toilet
    • a children's playground
    • a lake area
    • a large open space with walking track
    • picnic tables
    • barbecue facilities

    Jones Park is just off the Merri Creek bike trail in Brunswick East.

  • Location: 30-34 Charles Street, Coburg North

    This outdoor space:

    • holds up to 5000 people
    • is available to use between 6am and 11pm
    • is suitable for community festivals and ticketed events

    A popular location for events, Richards Reserve is also home to the Coburg Velodrome and a soccer pitch. A shared path connects Bakers Road and Charles Street through the park.

    The park has a water fountain. There is no onsite power access.
