About Arts Moreland

Moreland boasts an excellent arts offering, including venues for exhibitions and performances, world-class festivals and activities, and the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick.

Live Music Program Opportunities

Moreland City Council will develop and produce a new program, which will support the rebuild of the Victorian contemporary music sector via free and ticketed events, delivered from July to December 2022.

Have you got an awesome idea for a music event in an alternative space in our neighbourhood? Or maybe you’ve got a one-of-a-kind line-up in mind, or an event concept that is delivered in collaboration with multiple businesses? We are looking to support original one-off music events that will reinvigorate and support communities and businesses to rebuild Moreland’s contemporary music sector.

We want to hear your big ideas. Think out of the box – be bold and daring. Events that include partnerships and collaborations between businesses are strongly encouraged to apply.

Expressions of Interest are open to producers (in partnership with businesses/organisations), venues, arts organisations, music-related businesses (e.g. record labels, record stores, studios etc.) and hospitality businesses.

What’s in it for your business or organisation?

  • An allocated budget of up to $20K to produce and deliver your music event
  • Liaison with the Music Programmer who will work with you to produce an inclusive and dynamic line up of professional musicians
  • Dedicated marketing and promotion of the event
  • New audiences experiencing your business or organisatio
  • Applications close on 1 July 2022

If you work in a live music venue in Moreland, we want to hear from you!

What’s in it for your venue?

  • An allocated budget to assist with paying artist fees between $500 - $2,000 per show (the number of shows and fees allocated to the venue will be decided in consultation with the Music Programmer once participation is confirmed)
  • Liaison with the Music Programmer who will work with you to produce an inclusive and dynamic line-up
  • Dedicated marketing and promotion of all Venues 3056 + 3058 Extended shows
  • New audiences experiencing your venue

Arts and Culture Strategy

Our Moreland Arts Strategy 2017-22 (PDF 4Mb) guides our commitment to strengthening the creative sector and enhancing Moreland as a destination for the arts. This strategy is also available as a Microsoft Word document (Moreland Arts Strategy 2017-22 (DOC 6Mb)).

The strategy outlines how we aim to enhance the capacity of Moreland's creative sector to maintain and grow creative practices and increase participation in our arts and culture program for the whole community.

We deliver this through the following three key roles.

  1. As a Producer where we initiate, coordinate and deliver events, festivals, programs, and exhibitions.
  2. As a Supporter where we encourage a thriving creative sector through investment, facilitation, and advocacy.
  3. As a Cultivator where we employ various strategies to engage with the community and build arts audiences across our community.
