Waterwatch Program - Waterbug (Alt Method) Census
Community session on the Merri Creek.
Macroinvertebrates (water bugs) are very important for the health of the waterway. They
are a key part of the food chain and can tell us about the health of the ecosystem.
The session will cover:
- sampling and collecting of waterbugs
- identifying live waterbugs to Family level and sometimes beyond!
- Collecting information that will be part of the annual National Waterbug Blitz!
- Lunch provided
*Please note: previous experience with macroinvertebrate identification is ideal (basic is fine).
