STICS (Stop the Intervention Collective Sydney)
This exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of the introduction of “the Intervention” (the Northern Territory National Emergency Response), a military intervention at odds with international human rights conventions. The Intervention was quietly extended until 2022 despite only two of the ninety-seven recommendations in the NT Government’s Little Children are Sacred Report (2007) being implemented. The artists give voice to the indignities of the Intervention and express their deep concerns relating to land rights and mining and the right to protect heritage sites. Recently indigenous Australians called for constitutional recognition or a treaty in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, to “walk with us”.
