We continue to provide support to families during the COVID-19 pandemic through an alternative service delivery model.
The consultation will commence with a telehealth appointment (phone/video call) and may be supplemented by short face-to-face consultations for weight checks, physical examination, breastfeeding support and developmental checks.
Priority face-to-face appointments will be offered to all families with infants 0-8 weeks, Aboriginal infants and children with additional needs.
Please note: a face-to-face consultation will not proceed if the parent/carer refuses to wear a surgical mask while attending for a centre appointment without valid reason consistent with State Government requirements (we will supply you with a face mask if you don’t have one already). In this situation, the client will be redirected to their General Practitioner.
Families will initially receive a phone consultation (if your baby is 0-8 weeks a face-to-face short consultation will also be booked in) around the time of their child’s appointment. During the phone consultation the MCH nurse will discuss the next steps and may offer a short face-to-face appointment.
Please note: If you or a person in your household has experienced a headache, fever, dry cough or shortness of breath in the past 24 hours, or if anyone has been tested or diagnosed with COVID-19 or been in close contact with someone who has, then you cannot attend a centre. Please call 9240 1111 and select option 2 to reschedule.
If you are attending a centre for an appointment, please bring:
- a surgical face mask (otherwise this will be provided)
- a clean blanket to cover the scales
- your child’s green book ‘My health, Learning and Development Record’
- a pen
If you are running late, please call 9240 1111 and select option 2 to reschedule. We are unable to accommodate late arrivals as we maintain physical distancing requirements and undertake additional cleaning.
If you need to make or change an appointment for your child next health check, please call the Maternal and Child Health booking line on 9240 1111 and select option 2 between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
