Whilst there are no airports located within the City of Moreland, some areas of Moreland are impacted by airspace and noise from the surrounding Essendon Fields and Melbourne Airports.
Development proposals in Moreland are reviewed for any infringements of the protected airspace and referred to the airport operator where necessary.

Melbourne Airport is located approximately 6 kilometres north of Moreland in Tullamarine. Melbourne Airport is governed by the Federal Government as it is located on Commonwealth land.

Melbourne Airport Environs Safeguarding Standing Advisory Committee Consultation
The Victorian Government is seeking submissions to advise the Minister for Planning on improvements to the planning provisions safeguarding Melbourne Airport and its environs.

The Standing Advisory Committee collected the first round of submissions between 27 July and 2 October 2020 before conducting a Hearing in February 2021.
Following from this hearing the Committee has prepared an Issues and Options Paper, with a second round of submisssions collected between 27 April and 22 June 2021.
A round table discussion is expected to be held in August 2021 to discuss the potential planning controls.
