Moreland has 11 Councillors who are elected from three specific areas across the City - called wards.

The Mayor of Moreland is elected at a Ceremonial Meeting of Council for a one-year term.

Cr Natalie Abboud, Cr Sue Bolton, Cr Annalivia Carli Hannan and Cr Ali Irfanli.

Cr Helen Davidson, Cr John Kavanagh, Cr Dale Martin and Cr Oscar Yildiz JP.

Cr Mark Riley, Cr Lambros Tapinos and Cr Jess Dorney.

Moreland City Council appoints Councillors to look after specific issues.

Council's newly elected Mayor delivers the Mayor's speech each year at the Ceremonial Meeting of Council.

The first 10 Moreland Councillors were elected in March 1996. The first Mayor was Mike Hill who served from 1996 to 1997.
