Campbell Reserve, Coburg - Sportsground upgrade

Project background

Campbell Reserve is a valued recreation reserve in Coburg and is heavily used by the local community for dog walking, play and formal sporting activities.

Following previous works at Campbell Reserve to upgrade the playground, picnic area and public toilets, Campbell Reserve is now undergoing additional works to improve the two sportsfields.

The upgrade works involve a full ground reconstruction which will see:

  • Sodding of a new hard wearing turf species
  • Installing a new irrigation and drainage system
  • Realigning the goal post and pitch, and
  • Building new perimeter fencing of the pitches, including a retractable mesh ball protective fence between the two sportsfields.

Consultation

Consultation and discussions have been held with community members and residents from the area surrounding Campbell Reserve. Council considered the feedback received and where possible accommodated this feedback in the works being undertaken at the reserve.

Works

Works are due to begin early August 2018 with an anticipated completion of the project in early 2019, pending favourable weather conditions.

While works are taking place, there will be no access to the sportsgrounds within the reserve. However, pathways and play areas will still be accessible.

Budget

$1.8 million.

This is a co-funded project between Moreland City Council, State Government and Sports Recreation Victoria.
