Raeburn Reserve, Pascoe Vale - park upgrade

Background

The playground at Raeburn Reserve has recently been upgraded as part of the Moreland Play Strategy 2016-20 (PDF 2Mb). This upgrade also included a new outdoor fitness area.

New Playground

Our playground plan (PDF 3Mb) has been constructed with a fresh new playspace that incorporates a blend of contemporary play equipment (including a flying fox!), garden beds and recycled materials through the use of locally sourced bluestone pitchers, rocks and logs for balancing, standing and sitting. Our talented in-house construction team have also created some amazing playful sculptural creatures using some of these natural and recycled materials!

Although a BBQ was originally designed into this space, Council did not install it because the power supply could not be connected without damaging the roots of the mature Elm trees surrounding the existing play space. A drinking fountain and extra picnic facilities have been provided along with a 'hang-out' space were people can relax with friends under the future shade. New plantings of both exotic and native plant species will provide further summer shade and winter sun into this play space as well as seasonal colour.

Outdoor Fitness

A new outdoor fitness area has been installed north of the playground thanks to the generous grant contribution from Sports Australia. There are at least 18 different exercise opportunities catered for within the equipment range.
