Level crossing removal (Media release)
The State Government held two community information sessions last week to outline the options for level crossing removal on Moreland Road in Brunswick and Bell Street in Coburg.
The Level Crossing Removal Authority is looking at two options: elevated rail or lowered trench rail.
“Moreland City Council does not advocate one option over another but it does support their removal,” said Mayor Cr John Kavanagh.
Council also wants to see further level crossing removals to deliver an ‘all-of-line solution’ for the Upfield train line.
At a minimum Council wants to see four crossings removed instead of two, including the two which lie between Coburg and Moreland stations, Reynard and Munro St’s.
