Permanent Road Closure - Sumner Street, Brunswick East and Peers Street, Brunswick East

On 11 December 2019, Moreland City Council acting under Section 207, Schedule 11 of the Local Government Act 1989, considered a report on the written and verbal submissions from the public and a report from the Road Authority (Department of Transport).

 Sumner and Peers Street

Peers Street

Council resolved to permanently block the passage of vehicles other than bicycles by placing and maintaining permanent barriers or other obstructions on the road in Peers Street, Brunswick East, from Nicholson Street to a point 11 metres further east.

Council also resolved that the existing temporary barriers in Peers Street be replaced with a permanent construction this financial year.

Sumner Street

Council resolved to continue the existing trial road closure in Sumner Street, Brunswick East just west of Noel Street and required that Council officers investigate the option of relocating that road closure to Nicholson Street.  A report on that option will be submitted to a future Council meeting.
