Nature strips
A nature strip is the land between the footpath and the road. It is public land. Council relies on
the goodwill of residents to help us maintain nature strips and footpath cutouts:
Council appreciates if you can:
- mow
- weed, and
- cut the edges of your nature strip and/or cutout.
People walking should be able to use the entire width of the footpath.
Plant your nature strip
Council is happy to consider requests from residents who would like to plant on their nature strip.
Ask Council if you can remove grass or have other plants to make your nature strip more attractive
and to maintain it less.
Help on planting or changing your nature strip
Council's Nature Strip Beautification Guidelines has information:
- on plants that suit for Moreland's environment
- how to maintain a nature strip, and
- how to apply to plant your nature strip.
