Playgrounds

There are 108 playgrounds in parks across Moreland. Playgrounds have:

  • slides and swings
  • climbing frames, and
  • fall mats.

Council staff visit many playgrounds on a monthly basis. Every three months, a certified independent authority audits each playground to make sure it complies with Australian safety standards.

Coburb Lake Reserve

A new playspace has been developed on the De Chene Parade side of Lake reserve.  Come and enjoy the 'Outdoor Lounge' with its magical creatures and favourite toys carved into a lounge suite (artist Angela Polgaze).  Watch the sunny TV and look out for the Octopus who has sneaked the remote control!  There is also a great Flying Fox, a 5-way swing, maize and a huge outdoor 'Twister' board.  Come and have a picnic and enjoy the view over the lake.  Park in the Lake carpark off Newlands Road, walk past the newly installed outdoor gym and up the hill to the playground along the Merri Creek shared path.  There is limited parking on De Chene Parade.

New Outdoor Gym

Try the new outdoor gym at Lake Reserve, Coburg.  All welcome - please note that this equipment is not to be used by children under 12 years of age.  Close to the Newlands Road carpark.

The old playground on the Lake Grove side of the Reserve - the main lake playground - has also been refurbished.  A new high tower with 2 slides has been installed as well as a great climbing net. For the younger ones ther is a lookout and a new double slide.  There is a basket swing as well as the normal swings, rockers and spinners.  Opening soon - this site will be updated when the new playground is open.

Barkly Square

New Kompan Bloqx climbing unit - the biggest in Australia has been built down at Barkly Square behind the shopping centre, Barkly Street, Brunswick.  come and test out your climbing skills! Also a new basket swing, spinner and slide unit.
