Caring for parks
Council cleans and maintains all parks, reserves, playgrounds and sports grounds in Moreland.
Caring for parks in the drought
Under stage 3A water restrictions, Council is required to make a range of water savings. Our greatest saving in the parks area has resulted in sportsgrounds using 25 per cent less water. Council waters one in four sports grounds.
Council cares for drought-affected trees by mulching at the base of mature trees and using recycled water to assist with weekly watering over the summer months.
Playgrounds
A certified independent authority audits every playground in Moreland every three months to make sure it meets Australian safety standards. Council staff visit many playgrounds on a monthly basis and undertake repairs.
Damage to trees, park toilets and park equipment
Contact Council to report damage. This includes:
- damage of park seats, tables, barbecues and playground equipment
- dumping of rubbish
- graffiti
- used needles and syringes, and
- toilets facilities not working.
