Moreland City Council Youth Summit 28 May 2008, 9 am - 3.30 pm On 28 May 2008, Moreland City Council will hold its sixth Youth Summit, “Putting the Youth in Council’ at the Moreland City Council Civic Centre. The Summit is designed to give young people a voice in the decision making process of local government. The Youth Summit provides an excellent opportunity for young people to participate in the conversations that occur at a local government level and to raise issues of concern. The aim of the Youth Summit is to identify the positive and negative issues facing young people in Moreland. This year the Summit will be considering four important issues to young people; Body image, Bullying, Family Conflict and Mental Health. These opinions proposed by the Youth Summit then influence and direct Council and other agencies in their services delivered to young people in the future. Information gathered from the Summit contributes to the way that Council, community organisations and other service providers interact with and meet the needs of young people in Moreland. Are you involved in organising an event or community festival? Council has developed a guide to help people plan and manage events successfully and to guide them through the steps they need to take to minimise risk and maximise the likelihood of a well run and successful event. The guide covers events such as community festivals, cultural celebrations, parades, fetes, outdoor shows or exhibitions, music events and sporting carnivals. It looks at issues such as insurance, funding and sponsorship, legal issues, budgeting, road closures, parking and permits, emergency and risk management, and publicity. | ||
