Syringe and needle disposal

All needles and syringes should be disposed of safely.

Free syringe disposal containers and kits

Council has syringe disposal containers available to any person who needs them. Syringe disposal containers are free for Moreland residents.

Council has free needle and syringe disposal kits for community groups, including sports clubs and schools.

Once containers are full they should be returned to council offices in Brunswick, Glenroy or Coburg for disposal and replacement.

Syringe disposal containers for commercial operators

Council sells syringe disposal containers to registered commercial premises at  a minimal cost  per container.

Syringe disposal units in the community

Unsafe disposal of used syringes in public places is dangerous. Use a syringe disposal unit. All Council public toilets have syringe disposal units.

24 hour disposal hotline

If you see a discarded syringe/ needle  in public areas you can contact Council 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
