Moreland Energy Foundation (MEFL)

Moreland Energy Foundation (MEFL) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that was established by Council more than a decade ago to work with local people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Through the Zero Carbon Evolution Strategy, Council is working together with MEFL to support the Moreland community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. This includes programs and initiatives to reduce energy use, generate local renewable energy and activate the community to reduce their carbon footprint.

MEFL, through its Positive Charge service, provides direct support and assistance to Moreland households, businesses and community groups to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through:

  • Installing solar panels
  • Switching to energy saving lights and appliances
  • Providing advice to make energy smart decisions for things like hot water and insulation
  • Designing and building energy smart homes and renovations, and
  • Providing education about energy and climate change.

Actions to save energy help people to:

  • Save money on energy bills
  • Protect themselves against future increases in energy prices
  • Enjoy more comfortable indoor temperatures in summer and winter, and
  • Be more resilient as our climate changes.

Moreland Energy Foundation is located at Level 1, 200 Sydney Road, Brunswick and can be contacted on 9385 8555.
