Zero Carbon Moreland is Council’s greenhouse gas target for the Moreland community.
By 2030 Council wants the Moreland community to have zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
Why Zero Carbon Moreland
Most Australian and international experts think we need to act immediately to stop the worst impacts of climate change. We urgently need to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions we produce.
How does Moreland become Zero Carbon?
The Moreland community can become Zero Carbon by making small and big changes in our behaviour. We can:
- use less electricity and gas
- buy green power and gas through your electricity provider
- use sustainable transport like walking, cycling, and public transport
- buy food that is grown or made locally, and
- offset greenhouse gas that we make.
Partner organisations
Zero Carbon Moreland is an initiative of the Moreland Energy Foundation in partnership with Council and other organisations like the Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action.
How to be Zero Carbon Moreland
The Moreland Energy Foundation will help you:
- measure your current carbon footprint from your home and activities, and
- develop a plan to reduce it to zero over time.

The half hour talk covers: the basics of conserving energy, rebates and incentives to help you go green, and provides room-by-room solutions to make your home comfortable and energy-efficient. We'll bring along a selection of the latest energy-saving devices and materials and explain how to choose the right product for your situation.
