What we do
What Council is doing for this campaign
Council is putting extra resources and money into cleaning up Moreland and making Moreland look good.
We:
- have a second Rapid Reponse team picking up dumped rubbish
- have new Community Planting and Litter Clean-up days
- encourage you to report dumping and clean-up your reported places within 48 hours
- expose places where rubbish is repeatedly dumped, and
- will hold a Clean Streets Community Summit.
What we always do
Council is responsible for keeping public areas of Moreland looking good.
Streets, roads and footpaths
- Clean footpaths with our streetsweepers.
- Repair footpaths and roads.
- Resurface streets. VicRoads is responsible for the maintenance of major roads in Moreland.

- Empty and maintain street, residential and business rubbish and recycling bins.
- Make street landscapes with garden beds on roundabouts and corners.
- Care for street trees, plant new street trees and remove sick or dead street trees.
Parks and playgrounds
- Clean, mow and care for plants and trees in Moreland's 430 parks and reserves.
- Inspect, repair and care for Moreland's 108 playgrounds.
- Use recycled water to water trees, grass and shrubs at our parks and Council buildings.
- Build and repair half-basketball courts, new seats, fences, playground equipment and barbeques.

- Fund community groups that regenerate the vegetation, and run projects to protect and care for these creeks.
Sportsgrounds
- Fund sportsclubs to keep their grounds and club houses clean.
- Water sportsgrounds with recycled water.
Houses, units and businesses
- Weekly collection of rubbish, recycling and green waste.
- Remove offensive graffiti.
- Help residents plan their nature strip in front of their house.
Support residents and developers have sustainable gardens
- Show you what indigneous plants to use in your garden.

Public art
- Fund and care for public art in Moreland. Council’s public art collection is spread throughout Moreland’s 15 suburbs.
- Hold the annual outdoor Moreland Sculpture Show and buy one of the winning artworks.
- Public art is art and design displayed in public spaces like parks, streets, buildings and other areas the public uses. Public art lets us enjoy public spaces more, celebrates our cultural identity and makes public space more attractive.
