TVs

All e-waste, including TVs, collected as part of the 2012 Hard Waste collection will be recycled.

Nationally, the Product Stewardship (e-waste) Bill was recently passed by parliament. The TV industry now has the green light to establish an industry funded take back scheme which will establish collection points where residents can drop off TVs for free to be recycled. It is expected that the take back scheme will be running by the end of 2011, with collection points established by mid 2012. If you don't have the space to store your old TV until the scheme is in place you can take it to Sims, MRI or TIC Group to be recycled for a small fee.

Tyres

Consider buying new tyres from a tyre centre that recycles tyres.
