Mattresses
Donate good quality beds and bases to charity. Call St Vincent de Paul on 1800 621 349 or the Brotherhood of St Laurence on 1300 366 283 to arrange collection.
Medicines
Take out out-of-date and unwanted medicines to your local pharmacy where they will be disposed of appropriately via an industry supported take-back program.
Mobile phone batteries and accessories
Drop-off old mobile phones, batteries and accessories at mobile phone dealers participating in Mobile Muster.
Council has a Mobile Muster collection box at each of its Citizen Service Centres. Other collection points are located throughout the municipality. To find the nearest to you use the Where to hand 'em in search tool on the Mobile Muster website.
Motor oil
Never put motor oil in the sink, down the drain or in your rubbish bin.
Take motor oil to a Detox Your Home Permanent Drop-off Facility.
The nearest centre for Moreland residents is the Darebin Resource Recovery Centre.
Some transfer stations take motor oil.
Hume Resource Recovery Centre takes motor oil, the first 10 litres are free. Oil filters are also accepted for free.
