Please note that the Student Leadership program will not be offered throughout 2011 due to an internal review of Moreland City Council's Youth Services programs.

About the program

The Student Leadership Program gives young people the necessary skills to be effective and influential leaders at school and in their community.

The program takes offers some leadership training for students attending Moreland secondary schools. 

Students complete a series of structured modules that include:

• effective decision making
• working effectively in teams
• public speaking
• communication skills, and
• leadership.

The Student Leadership program runs on the principles that:

• young people can make valuable and  well considered decisions
• young people can achieve positive outcomes for their community as they have skills, expertise and first hand knowledge of issues that affect young people
• young people can learn life-skills that can improve their careers, knowledge and skills, and 
• Council supports the  establishment of meaningful opportunities for young people to become involved in.
