The Moreland Active Recreation and Sport (MARS) Project is a Moreland Youth and Leisure initiative that promotes physical activity for young people - especially for newly arrived young people.
The MARS Project supports inclusive recreational programs and sporting clubs, develops new programs, creates events and provides leadership opportunities for newly arrived young people.

News - Wrapping up the MARS Project
The MARS Project commenced at Moreland City Council in August 2009, and after more than 2 years, the Project will finish up on Thursday 29 March 2012.
I would like to thank all individuals and organisations that have supported the MARS Project over this period.
Highlights from the MARS Project include the boys’ and girls’ social soccer programs which commenced in Fawkner in August 2010. Although the Fawkner programs concluded in 2011the social soccer program continues in Brunswick with up to 25 young people participating each Tuesday night in Brunswick. Other great initiatives developed by the MARS Project include Dance Sister Dance and the Why B Active Festival.
Initiatives will continue in 2012, including the Brunswick social soccer program, the Ghana Association of Victoria soccer program, the Fawkner school / club partnership, the Why B Active Festival and Dance Sister Dance.
Moreland Council remains committed to supporting the development of inclusive sport and active recreation programs in the community. Programs currently being supported include a netball initiative in Fawkner and a proposed girls soccer program in Glenroy.
