Home maintenance
Council helps older people and people with a disability with small household jobs and repairs to keep the home safe.
Home maintenance tasks include:
- installing hand rails and smoke detectors
- re-lighting pilot light
- changing light bulbs, tap washers and smoke detector batteries
- fixing doors and gates
- cleaning gutters
- repairing fences
- building ramps, and
- clearing small sink blocks.
Council does not:
- mow lawns
- prune fruit trees, or
- do general gardening.
Can I use Council’s home maintenance service?
Council’s home maintenance service is for people who need it most.
Council visits you at home and assesses your needs. Then Council will tell you if you are eligible.
