Friends of Aileu Community Committee
The Friends of Aileu Community Committee meets to consider and discuss strategies to help Moreland and Hume support activities for the Councils joint friendship city relationship with Aileu.
Role and scope
The committee provides advice to Moreland and Hume City Councils on how the Friendship relationship operates and responds to proposals from the Aileu Friendship Commission. It also seeks, and responds to, suggestions and proposals from the local communitiy and from partner organisations about the operation of the friendship relationship.
Its main activities include fundraising for projects in Aileu District and raising community awareness about the needs of the community there.
Members
Membership is open to all interested community members, irrespective of their residency, who support the underlying aims of the Memorandum of Understanding.
Council representation includes one nominated Councillor or their delegate from both Moreland and Hume City Councils.
Councillors are appointed annually at the Ceremonial Meeting in December.
Meetings
The Friends of Aileu Community Committee meets on the first Tuesday of every second month, from 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm, usually in the Council Chamber, Moreland Civic Centre, 90 Bell Street, Coburg. Please contact Council to confirm the meeting date and location.
