Gowanbrae Community and Children's Centre
Council has started planning the building of the Gowanbrae Community Centre at 2A Marigold Crescent, opposite the roundabout (Melway Map 16: C1).
New facilities
The Centre will have:
- multipurpose community room for playgroups, social gatherings, excercise classes commitee meetings and parent groups
- long day care for children aged three - five years (30 places)
- a kindergarten (30 places), and
- a Maternal and Child Health Centre including a consulting room available to visiting community health services.
Operating hours
The centre will operate from 8 am – 6 pm weekdays, with minimal use on evenings and weekends (to be determined).
Planning and building schedule
- The tender for the building and construction works will be advertised on 17 October 2009. Council will make a decision on the preferred supplier on 9 December 2009.
- Construction is scheduled to commence in January 2010.
- January 2011: Gowanbrae Community and Children's Centre opens
Changes to current services
The Maternal Child Health Service and activities currently at the Community House will move to the new Gowanbrae Community and Children's Centre in 2011.
Pre-school waiting list
If your child or children are attending preschool during 2009 or 2010, you can put their name on the Moonee Valley Council waiting list for the four year old pre-school group at Strathmore Height Preschool in Mascoma Street.
Moonee Valley residents
Gowanbrae residents have equal priority access with Moonee Valley residents. Contact Moonee Valley Council on 9243 8888.
