Planning permit for a large water tank

Usually you do not need a planning permit for a domestic water tank in your backyard at home.

You do need a planning permit if:

  • the water tank is more than 4500 litres,  or
  • you are in a heritage overlay area and you can see the water tank from the street or a public park.
