An Environmentally Sustainable Design Management Plan is required for large-scale developments. This includes:

If your development is smaller than these benchmarks you are requested to submit a Sustainable Design Assessment (SDA).
What is an Environmentally Sustainable Design Management Plan?
An ESDMP is a detailed sustainability assessment of a proposed design at the planning stage. An ESDMP addresses the 10 Key Sustainable Building Categories and demonstrates that a holistic ESD review has been undertaken during a project’s early design stages. It identifies beneficial, easy to implement and best practice initiatives.
An ESDMP should be prepared by a suitably qualified ESD professional and address the following 10 Key Sustainable Building Categories:
- Indoor Environment Quality
- Energy Efficiency
- Water Resources
- Stormwater Management
- Building Materials
- Transport
- Waste Management
- Urban Ecology
- Innovation, and
- Ongoing Management.
