About Counihan Gallery
The Counihan Gallery In Brunswick is Council’s contemporary visual arts gallery.
The gallery presents exhibitions, public talks and forums that promote and inspire innovation and diversity in the visual arts in Moreland. The Gallery opened in 1999 and is named in honour of the Australian artist and activist Noel Counihan.
2009 exhibition program
The gallery presents up to ten exhibitions each year. The exhibitions showcase a wide range of visual arts practices by local, interstate and international artists.
Counihan Gallery staff and artists curate several exhibitions each year.
Artists can apply to hire the Counihan Gallery space to exhibit their work in the Gallery, and be part of its annual exhibition program. Inclusion in the Gallery's Exhibition Program is subject to an application and selection process.
Location
The gallery is located at 233 Sydney Road, Brunswick, next to the Brunswick Town Hall. The building is near the corner of the Sydney Road and Dawson Street intersection. Enter through glass doors on Sydney Road. The gallery is to the left of the Brunswick Citizen Service Centre.
Gallery hours
Wednesday to Saturday 11 am – 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm – 5 pm.
Closed on public holidays.
