Glenroy Festival 2012: 3046 Festival on the Streets
The Glenroy Festival has undergone some exciting new developments.
In response to community feedback, Council is currentlly in the process of negotiating for a not-for-profit Glenroy based organisation to work with the Glenroy Festival Committee, and with the support of Council, to present future Glenroy Festivals.
Saturday 24 March - Thursday 5 April 2012
The streets of Glenroy, Hadfield and Oak Park will come alive when the Glenroy Festival takes to the streets.
A short program of free entertainment and activities will be presented on four different days in four different locations across the 3046 postcode.
This program is a free, family friendly, inclusive and all ages program of events and we look forward to seeing you there!
Saturday 24 March
9:30am - 12:30 pm
Location: West Street shopping strip, Hadfield (Melway ref: 17 B3)
No Bull! (roving musical trio): No Bull! All Boogie! No Bull! Genetically modified cows with attitude! No Bull! are the future! No Bull! An exciting act based around music and bovine comedy. The music is exciting and highly energetic, drawing on a range of styles that cover funk, jazz, latin, calypso, swing, country and western and world music. No Bull! A funky horn section and energetic drummers with infections rhythms. No Bull! It's about fun, energy and audience interaction.

Location: Snell Grove shopping strip, Oak Park (Melway ref: 16 H6)
Musica Aldente (roving musical trio): "Musica Aldente" A touch of Italy! Just close your eyes & be transported to a street in Rome, a village in Italy, a gondola in Venice. This bunch of finely dressed musicians in matching costume play a fine selection of Italian classics on accordion, trumpet and percussion. It's very traditional and cheesy at the same time! The music is full of compelling rhythms that include The Tango, The Tarantalla, The Can Can and Waltzes.

Location: Morgan Court, Glenroy (Melway ref: 16 G2)
The POint (roving musical trio): Music, Magic and Mayhem! The POint a vibrant blend of music, circus and comedy. The POint is a snappy mix of virtuosi saxophone and highly energetic percussion. The POint makes a point of interacting and involving the audience with music, magic and circus skills.
- The Circus Spot Playground: Drop into the circus playground and try your hand at hula hooping, juggling and much more. All ages welcome, no experience necessary!
- The Circus Spot: Circus skill demonstrations presented within the cicus playground.
- Interative chalk art session: Children will be introduced to the pracice of basic chalk art and using simple techniques will learn how to create their own chalk art masterpiece themed around the circus!

Thursday 5 April
9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location: Pascoe Vale Road (west) and Post Office Place, Glenroy (Melway ref: 16 G2)
Furr Ball (roving musical trio): 'Fur Ball' is a roving trio of lovable loonies, dressed in red fur suiits with matching hats looking like they have just stepped out of a Dr. Seuss story. 'Fur Ball' sing songs from all genres, what makes them intriguing is that the music is created with a humble ukulele, soprano saxophone & hand percussion. As well as being a visual spectacle they also have tactile attraction. "They like their fur ruffled!"

This interim program is being presented in lieu of the 2012 Glenroy Festival's usual model. The Glenroy Festival is currently in transition and undergoing some exciting new developments!
How to get involved
This is a great way to promote your group or to come along and find out about groups and activities in your area. Have a stall, perform or run a workshop on the day, and get involved.
