Bringing music and art to the street
Coburg comes alive with a spectacular array of colour and culture when Coburg Carnivale warms the heart of Coburg with a five-day program of music and art. See Victoria Street Mall transform over the week and join in the fun!
Events and activites will take place in several locations in and around the Victoria Street Mall and Sydney Road precinct. From Tuesday to Friday enjoy a vibrant and diverse program of weekday lunchtime sessions in the Mall, culminating in a final celebration on Saturday 16 June.
Carnivale in the Street
Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 June

Saturday Carnivale in the Mall
Saturday 18 June

Victoria Street Mall, Coburg
Come to the Victoria Street Mall from 11.30 am and be a part of the festivities. Enjoy performance, music, art, workshops and community stalls. Grab a coffee or some lunch from one of the Mall traders and celebrate what’s great about Coburg!

FREE face painting and balloon artist
11.30 am – 1.30 pm
Children can get into the Carnivale spirit with free face painting and clever balloon creations.

Swing in the Street
Come and show your favourite moves with this FREE dance EVENT in Victoria Street Mall! Dust off your best vintage inspired outfit and come ready to learn some dance moves from days gone by with teachers from Swing Patrol. Enjoy performances from the era of swing and then dance the afternoon away to the Cairo Club Orchestra or try your hand at some hula hooping.
Bring a dance partner or just bring yourself - Swing in the Street is open to everyone!

Cairo Club Orchestra
Show your favourite moves and dance the afternoon away to this 10 piece Vintage Dance Orchestra performing the best in early Jazz, Blues, Swing, Talking Picture Hits and Novelty Music from the 1920's, 30's and 40's.
The Light in Winter
The ‘Light in Winter’ is a ‘light’ based festival that brings together artists, designers and communities to explore their ideas of light, enlightenment and hope.
The Light in Winter In Coburg : Lanterns and the Symphony of Signing
Friday 15 June
4.30 pm to 6.30 pm
Coburg Town Hall, 90 Bell Street, Coburg
Lanterns: A local visual spectacle of lanterns created by Moreland’s diverse abilities community. The ‘gift of light’ lanterns will be presented locally in Coburg first and then will be featured on the following weekend at the Solstice Celebration: ‘A Night of A Thousand Lights’ as part of Fed Square’s ‘Light in Winter Festival’. Symphony of Signing: Coburg Carnivale will feature an exclusive sneak peak at this project that has been specially developed in collaboration with Federation Square and the Anti Racism Action Band (A.R.A.B) together with diverse abilities communities. This presentation showcases the Anti Racism Action Band (A.R.A.B), Asanti Dance Theatre, members of the deaf community and Moreland’s diverse abilities community, who will perform together in a choreographed fusion of Auslan, hip hop and contemporary African drum and dance.
Presented in collaboration with Fed Square, the Anti Racism Action Band (A.R.A.B), Deaf Arts Network, Arts Access Victoria. Participation by clients from Yooralla First Base North and diverse abilities programs of Sussex Neighbourhood House.
Reading the Body Day: Symphony of Signing will also be featured at Fed Square on Saturday 16 June 4 pm – 7 pm
Also at Fed Square the following week will be Solstice Celebration: Night of A Thousand Lights on Saturday 23 June 5 pm – 8 pm

Wild and Woolly!
Warm those winter chills as Victoria Street Mall is transformed into one big knitted, crocheted and woven sculpture featuring Yarn Storming installations by RMIT Textile Design and Development Students, Yarn Corner, Sussex Street Neighbourhood House, Multicultural Women's Sewing Group, Brunswick North Primary School and other community participants.

Box It!: Showcased in the windows of the Coburg Library, students of RMIT's Textile Design and Development present paper and cardboard works exploring Aesop’s Fables. To be enjoyed inside and out.
