Carols by the Lake MC - Kerri Simpson
ARIA nominee Kerri Simpson has performed blues and jazz with the likes of Ray Periera, Lou Bennett, and Paul Kelly. Kerri has been a singing MC for Carols events across Melbourne for a number of years, and is excited to be performing in Moreland with The Pearly Shells Big Band.

Comprising 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, trombone, piano, double bass, guitar, and drums, The Pearly Shells Big Band are famous for their swingin' back beat sounds and hollywood style!

Children’s Activities
Creating arts and crafts from 100% biodegrable and recyclable materials, children will be shown how they can create Christmas decorations using a collection of colourful recycled materials and 100% biodegrable papers. They will be informed of how all these materials can be used to create something for Christmas that not only helps the planet but can also be beautiful.
Sustainable Carols
Moreland Council are committed to reducing the environmental impact of Council community events. Carols by the Lake 2011 is excited to have partnered wth RMIT and Creative Enterprises to provide solar powered audio and lighting at this year's event. Carols by the Lake 2011 will be green in the following ways:
- solar powered staging - sound and lighting
- whole of event carbon offsetting
- community engagement through partnership with MEFL and Creative Enterprises
- all marketing and promotional materials printed on FSC paper and carbon offset
- inclusion of waste education in performance program
- what Council plans to do for future Carols by the Lake events, and
- source non-diesel powered night lighting for the parks.
Accessible Carols
Celebrating International Day of People with Disabilities, Carols by the Lake will promote awareness of disability and celebrate the achievements of people with disability. Moreland Council is committed to increasing accessibility and inclusivity for all community events across the municipality. Carols by the Lake will provide the following:
- reserved accessible parking and pick up / drop off points
- accessible toilets
- large text Carols song booklets
- reserved viewing area for people who use a wheelchair , and
- Auslan interpreters available on request.

By Bike - Ride your bike along the Merri Creek Trail, bicycle parking available
By Train - Catch the Upfield Line to Batman Station, then walk east from the station towards Coburg Lake Reserve
By Tram - Tram #19 will take you to the corner of Sydney and Murray Roads, Coburg
By Bus - #526 Coburg West Preston, Murray Road Stop
