Keeping Pets in the higher density development

The "Pets in the City" guide has been prepared by the Petcare Information and Advisory Service (PIAS) to assist people residing in higher density living to enjoy the many benefits offered by pets. The guide can help you decide whether you should have a pet, what the most suitable type of pet might be for you and how to enjoy life with your pet.

 

Maximum numbers and types of animals that are allowed in Moreland without a permit

The Moreland City Council General Local Law 2007 (DOC 901Kb), outlines the regulations surrounding keeping of animals in Moreland.

A person must not, without a permit, keep on any premises a rooster, goose, turkey, peafowl, cockatoo or galah or any other bird that is not a domestic bird.

Permits

You need a permit for some birds and a permit to keep many pets.
