Abandoned shopping trolleys
Shopping trolleys should not be left on the street, footpath or naturestrip and should be returned to their owner.
Businesses are encouraged to collect shopping trolleys which have been abandoned.
Council officers will impound a trolley found on municipal land and will release it to the owner only after a fee is paid.
Report an abandoned shopping trolley
Go to TrolleyTracker or free call 1800 641 497 for the following retailers:
- Kmart
- Woolworths
- Franklins
- Target
- Big W, and
- Safeway.
Go to 1800TROLLY or free call 1800 876 553 for the following retailers:
- Coles
- K Mart
- Target
- Bunnings, and
- Officeworks.
For other retailers, contact the store directly.
You can report an abandoned shopping trolley to Council by using the follow steps:
- make an online customer request by selecting the Contact Council link below
- then click on 'eRequests' and click on accept the terms and conditions
- select dumped rubbish and litter
- once you have entered the address of where it was reported, it will take you to the dumped rubbish details page
- select Shopping Trolley
- once all the details are complete and you submit your request write down the number you are given
- you can track the status of your request online using the number provided, or
- Contact Council
