Organisational values guide our decision making and our behaviour. These values underpin everything we do at Moreland Council.

We acknowledge our main purpose is to work with our Community and customers. This means that:

  • We will place importance on working with our customers
  • We will seek and act on feedback from our customers and our community
  • We will look for ways to improve our work through innovation, and
  • We recognise our communities have different needs and respond accordingly.

This also means that:

  • I will treat internal customers the same as external customers.

Values respect iconRespect

I will support and value others. This means that:

  • I will take the time to listen and to respond constructively
  • I will respect that everyone is different
  • I will listen to and respect differences of opinion, and
  • I will take differences into account when making decisions.

This also means that:

  • I will not behave or communicate ina way that has a negative impact on others.

Values personal accountability iconPersonal accountability

I take pride in our work and am responsible for doing it well. This means that:

  • I will use work time and resources effectively
  • I will recognise and support leadership at every level and set a positive example
  • I will show leadership whatever my role is
  • I will have a clear understanding of what my job is and be responsible for it, and
  • I will take the time to learn from the things that do not go to plan.

This also means that:

  • I will be active in the workplace and not just go along for the ride, and
  • I will not blame when mistakes happen.

Values integrity iconIntegrity

I will do what I say. This means that:

  • I will be honest, and
  • I will use the Moreland values to make decisions and guide my work.

This also means that:

  • I will not promise what I cannot deliver.

Values one team iconOne team

I will work within and across the organisation to achieve community outcomes. This means that:

  • I will value others for the different talents and skills they have
  • I will work with others in a positive and supportive way
  • I will share my skills, information, knowledge and learning with others
  • I will celebrate my successes, and
  • I will not knowingly walk past a problem, even though it is not my area of responsibility.

This also means that:

  • I will not be a sole operator, and
  • I will not ignore the impact of my work on others.
