Moreland City Council is well served by trains, trams and buses.
Trains
The Upfield and Craigieburn train lines run through Moreland.
Trams
- Tram 96 travels between St Kilda and East Brunswick. It runs along Nicholson Street, and terminates at Blyth Street.
- Tram 1 travels between South Melbourne Beach and East Coburg. It runs along Lygon Street and Nicholson Street (north) and terminates at Bell Street.
- Tram 8 travels between Toorak and Moreland. It runs along Lygon Street and Moreland Road, and terminates at Moreland train station.
- Tram 19 travels between Elizabeth Street (City) and North Coburg. It runs along Sydney Road, and terminates at Bakers Road.
- Tram 55 travels between the Domain and West Coburg. It runs along Grantham Street, Dawson Street and then Melville Road, and terminates at Bell Street.
Buses
Many buses run in Moreland travel in an east-west direction to integrate with the tram and train routes.

Fares and tickets
You can buy a Metcard ticket at a train stations, on trams (coin-only ticket machines) or on buses from the driver. Newsagents, convenience stores and milkbars also sell metcard single tickets and multiple tickets – just look for the blue Metcard sign.
Buying Metcards saves you time and money. These include 10 x 2 hour, 5 x Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly tickets.
Myki is durable travel pass that you use to store travel credit. Touch on and Touch off each time you travel by public transport and your myki will automatically deduct the best fare for your trip. You can also register your myki on the myki website to protect your travel credit if you lose or damage your card.
Myki passes are available from staffed railway stations (such as Coburg and Glenroy), from the myki website or by calling 13 6954 (13 myki).
