25 ways to have fun with the kids this summer

It's summer, school's out and the children need to be entertained. Here are some great recreational activities for parents and children to do together. Whether it's a visit to the library, a swim at the pool, or a spot of bird watching, there are many fun activities to do locally, in Moreland.

1 It’s summer, it’s hot, make a splash at one of Moreland’s six pools.

2 Enjoy quiet afternoons with a new book from the Moreland library free book borrowing service.Boy at library

3 Discover the natural delights of the 21 kilometre Merri Creek Trail on foot or by bike.

4 Challenge yourself and the kids to the Moonee Ponds Creek trail; it’s 24 kilometres!

5 Check out the variety of summer holiday activities offered at Moreland’s five libraries.

7 Play your way through all of Moreland’s 108 playgrounds!

8 Run a competition with your kids to spot the most pieces of Moreland’s public art.

9 For a spot of bird watching, head to the wetlands at Jacana Retarding Basin in Glenroy.

24 Celebrate the end of school holidays at the Sydney Road Street Party.
