Waste management charge
The waste charge included in your rate notice helps fund the provision of Council's kerbside garbage, recycling, green and hard waste services.
Increases in waste collection and disposal service costs have resulted in an increase in this charge.
Service costs have increased due to an increase in the State Government Landfill Levy of $44.00, and an increase in the number of properties being serviced. This means a greater amount of waste is being collected and taken to landfill for disposal. In total, about 28,000 tonnes of garbage is collected within the municipality. Rubbish collected is taken to the Wollert Landfill site.

How is your waste charge calculated?
The waste charge is based on the capacity (size) of the garbage bin you have chosen.
An 80 litre bin has a waste charge of $72.00 and a 120 litre bin has a waste charge of $243.00.
This is valid until 30 June 2012.
Shared 120 litre and 240 litre bins relate to flats and apartments where more than one household shares a bin.
Get a smaller bin
You can change your rubbish bin size at any time during the year and the waste charge will be adapted on a pro rata basis to reflect the change of bin size.
