From Victoria Online: Human Swine Flu
There have been confirmed cases of H1N1 Influenza 09 (Human Swine Influenza) in Victoria.
- All cases are all being treated with anti-viral medication.
- No Victorian cases of H1N1 Influenza 09 have required hospitalisation for the infection.
- The majority of cases outside Mexico are still being reported as mild illness only.
- The virus is a type of influenza A virus that is usually seen in pigs (Swine Influenza).
- Treatment is available through your GP or a hospital.
The pandemic alert level has been raised by the World Health Organisation to phase 6.
What should I do?
Please call your dcotor if you have a flu-like illness (fever, cough and fatigue) and have travelled to Mexico, USA or Canada in the past seven days.
Please call your local hospital if you are seriously unwell with flu-like symptoms and have travelled to Mexico, USA or Canada in the past seven days. The Online Community Directory lists hospitals in and near Moreland.
