About Amendment C97: former Coburg High School site
Amendment C97 to the Moreland Planning Scheme affects the land at 81A Bell Street and 2-24 Rodda Street, Coburg (the former Coburg High School site). The request has been made to Council by SJB Planning on behalf of Hampton JV (Coburg) Pty Ltd, the owner of the land.
This Amendment proposes to:
- Rezone the land from the Residential 1 Zone (R1Z) to the Mixed Use Zone (MUZ).
- Remove the two Heritage Overlays affecting the land (HO21 – Former Coburg High School and HO31 – Bridges Reserve and City Oval Precinct).
- Replace the existing interim local policy at Clause 22.12 (Coburg Activity Centre) with an amended version which revises the land use and built form objectives for Precinct 4 (the precinct within which the subject site is located), based on the Central Coburg 2020 Structure Plan.
- Seek approval of Planning Permit MPS2009/73 for the use and development of the land for a building of up to 13 storeys, incorporating dwellings, shops, food and drink premises (except tavern and hotel), offices, and place of assembly (community facilities), landscaping and basement car parking; alterations to access to a road in a Road Zone Category 1; sale and consumption of liquor in association with the food and drink premises; reduction in the standard car parking rate and loading/unloading requirements; and a variation of an easement.
