Interview with Cr Pryor

Why did you run for Council?

I felt that I had more to give and that there are things that I still wanted to achieve on Council. These things I am continuing to work on are redevelopment of Brunswick Baths, the establishment of youth facilities in Moreland, and the Brunswick Structure Plan.

What do you see as the top five issues facing Council over the next four years?

  1. Dealing with Climate Change
  2. Council becoming more responsive to community requests and concerns
  3. Funding the infrastructure backlog
  4. Discovering how to exist with limited water resources
  5. The Global Financial Crisis

Name three things you want this Council to achieve in the next four years?

  1. The redevelopment of Brunswick Baths
  2. The establishment of youth facilities in Moreland, and
  3. The initial implementation of the Brunswick Structure Plan.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Gardening, my cats, and my family.

What community activities in Moreland have you been involved in?

My community activities centre around the arts and young people – such as being involved in festivals, cultural events and exhibitions in Moreland.

What are some of your favourite things about Moreland?

My absolute favourite thing is how anything you want to do or buy or find, you can do or find it in Moreland – be it from any part of the world.

Work experience, career, job?

When I started on Council, I had worked at the local deli in Brunswick for six years. Currently I do project coordination for National Science Week at the CSIRO and work as Policy and Campaigns Coordinator with Emily’s List, an organisation supporting women seeking election to government.

Family, children, dogs, cats?

I live in Brunswick with my husband and our beautiful cats.

What’s the best time of day and method for residents and community groups to contact you?

Email then mobile.

Who are your roles models/ people you admire?

Joan Kirner, Julia Gillard, and my mum.
